With every export shipment, charges are calculated on the size/weight of the container the animal is traveling in, the destination, route and time of year. We represent many major airlines and can ship to anywhere in the world throughout the year.

During the hot summer and cold winter months, most carriers to the United States have embargos. In conjunction with Continental Airlines, PBS International Freight Ltd can offer reliable temperature controlled transport to and from the aircraft, which then allows your pet to travel at anytime of the year. See Continental's PetSafe policy.

It is very important that the correct kennel is provided for your animal. Please go to kennel size for information on crate sizes and measuring your pet.

For flight booking requests please go to booking this is for exports from the UK only. You can request your flight and preferred date online, together with all your pet information. Please have your quote reference to hand and please await our confirmation of booking prior to booking your own passenger flights.

DISCLAIMER:

Please note if the overall checkweight of your pet and/or kennel combined is heavier than quoted (this applies to chargeable weight as well as gross weight) or if a shipper provided kennel is deemed too small for the animal then this will incur ADDITIONAL CHARGES which PBS International Freight Ltd CANNOT be held responsible for, this will be re-charged to the customer/shipper.

Note: this may involve providing a larger travel kennel or re-booking your pet with the airline.

Additionally if last minute change of destination is required this MAY increase the cost of travel depending on the destination.

Procedure

When you have received your quotation please note we will need the following information to make your booking with the airline:

  • Departure date/flight numbers
  • Breed/name/age/sex of pet/animal
  • Weight and size of kennel (inc pet)
  • Shipper/consignee FULL name’s, addresses and contact tel/e-mail info

Please note: any bookings cancelled within a month and up to a month prior to the booked departure date, will incur a cancellation fee of GBP145.00. Bookings cancelled within one week prior to the booked departure date, will not receive a refund.

Other points to remember when your pet is travelling are:

1. No sedation or tranquillizers can be used due to the unknown affects from high altitudes.

2. You should ensure your pet/animal is fed well in advance of travel. We recommend feeding the night before, but only water on the morning of departure.

3. Try to exercise your pet/animal before you are due to meet a PBS member of staff.

4. Arrive in plenty of time (check meet time with PBS) and be sure on where you are meeting and who you are meeting. Here is a map of Gatwick Cargo centre, with directions from the M23.

5. Ensure that you have been informed or are aware of the procedure when your animal arrives at the destination. Customs Clearance is required at destination outside of the EC, some airlines include these rates and some don’t. You will be given an Airway bill number, this is critical to trace your pet/animal.

6. Animals on long haul flights are given rest periods when connecting onto a second flight. Animals are required to be on the ground for a minimum of three to four hours before boarding the connecting flight.

Delays

If the departing aircraft that your pet is travelling on is delayed for more than 2 hours, your pet will be taken to the Animal Reception Centre. Here your pet will be removed from it's kennel, fed and watered and returned to the aircraft for the new departure time.

Checklist

It is VITAL you not only have the correct documentation, but have fully understood the requirements to ensure the safety and well being of your pet. We've drawn up an outbound checklist to help you. Please make sure you read this!
